Sydney University Boat Club (SUBC) is one of the University¡¯s 40 sporting clubs and is a leading rowing club in Australia. The club is the recent product of an amalgamation of Sydney University Boat Club (est. 1860) and Sydney University Women¡¯s Rowing Club (est. late 1960¡¯s). The community now proudly resides on the Lane Cove River, following the 2017 completion of the state-of-the-art ¡®Thyne-Reid¡¯Boat shed. A varsity and recreational club during most of its history, the Boat Club has since the 1990s had an increased focus on its high performance and elite rowing programs, being well represented in Australian Olympic rowing crews between Athens 2004 and Rio 2016.
