올해로 4회째를 맞이하는 「DGIST 세계명문대학 조정축제」에 참가하신 각국 선수단 여러분 그리고 이 자리에 참석하신 내외 귀빈 여러분 반갑습니다.

세계의 명문대학들이 함께하는 조정축제를 우리 DGIST에서 또 한 번 주최하게 되어 기쁘게 생각합니다. 대학에서 조정부 선수 활동을 한 저에게는 이 조정축제가 특별한 의미를 갖습니다

미래를 이끌어 갈 리더들이 될 세계의 명문대학교 지성인들의 도전과 협력의 무대가 될 이 축제가 참가하는 모든 선수들에게 우정과 리더십 함양의 장이 되고, 우리 모두에게는 젊은이들의 꿈과 열정이 넘쳐나는 축제에 함께하는 귀한 자리가 되기를 바랍니다.

조정은 물과 함께하는 오랜 역사를 가진 자연 친화적 운동으로 불굴의 의지와 도전정신을 함양하는 스포츠입니다. 세계명문대학 조정축제가 뛰어난 역사를 지닌 아름다운 낙동강 물줄기에서 지속적으로 개최되어, 세계적인 문화축제로 자리매김할 수 있도록 우리의 소중한 물길들이 잘 보존되기를 바랍니다.

끝으로, 감동과 화합의 Row Together, 함께하는 성공축제로 힘을 모아주신 관계기관과 열정을 가지고 대회를 준비해 온 모든 분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.

Greetings to all rowers and coxswains from all over the world and distinguished guests who are joining us for the 4th DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival.

Rowing holds a very dear place in my heart because I was once a university rower myself. Hence it is indeed a very special pleasure for me to host this World-class Rowing Festival at DGIST.

Above all, I hope that this festival, involving both challenge and collaboration among young intellectuals who will be the future leaders at the world’s most prestigious universities, will be a foundation to enhance friendship and leadership. Also, I wish that this festival will be a valuable opportunity to further inspiring the dreams and passion among all the participants.

As is widely known, rowing, a sport of an indomitable will and challenging spirit, plays a historic role as the most ecologically-friendly spot celebrating water on Earth. I hope that DGIST Worldclass University Rowing Festival will be consistently hosted at the beautiful Nakdong river, which was established among the world’s cultural heritage with a particular historical significance in the protection of valuable water resources.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all including concerned authorities and festival organizers who cooperate to lead the festival as ‘Row Together’with thrilling emotion and harmony, and with success to all.
