조정 가족 여러분! 반갑습니다.

대구의 힘찬 기운이 흐르는 낙동강과 젊음의 열정이 가득한 동성로에서 개최되는 2018 DGIST 세계명문대학 조정축제』를 축하드리며, 대구를 찾아주신 세계 5개 명문대학교의 조정선수 및 관계자 여러분을 250만 시민과 함께 진심으로 환영합니다.

아울러 이번 축제를 정성껏 준비해주신 대구경북과학기술원 손상혁 총장님을 비롯한 관계자 여러분께 감사드립니다.

조정은 극한의 체력, 불굴의 의지, 그리고 콕스를 중심으로 팀원 모두의 협동심을 필요로 하는 공동체적인 스포츠인 동시에, 삶의 기반이 되어온 강과 함께 하는 자연친화적인 스포츠입니다.

특히 이번 대회가 펼쳐지는 낙동강은 과거 대한민국 산업화의 젖줄이었으며, 현재는 우리 대구시의 역점사업인 물산업 클러스터의 중심지로서 대한민국의 새로운 미래를 만들어 가고 있습니다.

미래의 글로벌 리더들이 한자리에 모이는 이번 축제가 조정 경기를 통해 도전 정신을 함께 나누고 학술과 문화를 교류하는 화합의 장이 되길 기대합니다.

우리 대구는 대구국제뮤지컬페스티벌과 오페라축제, 컬러풀 페스티벌과 치맥 축제 등 1년 내내 즐거움이 가득한 문화의 도시입니다. 대구에 머무르시는 동안 좋은 추억 많이 만들어 가시기 바랍니다.

Greetings to our dear rowing families!

Hosting the DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival 2018 in Dongseongro, the city of Daegu is full of young passion and the invigorating energy of Nakdong River. It is my pleasure to welcome all the athletes from top 5 universities in the world and distinguished guests, on behalf of the 2.5 million citizens of Daegu.

I would also like to extend our appreciation to President Sang-Hyuk Son and all the members of DGIST, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, for their efforts in facilitating this contest.

Centering on extreme strength, indomitable willpower, and cox, rowing is a team sport that cooperation among team members is needed as well as an eco-friendly sport which is played on the river.

In particular, Nakdong River, which is the venue for the contest, used to be an lifeline of industrialization to South Korea and now has been making the new future of Korea as a hub of Water Industry Cluster which is the main project of Daegu.

This contest participated in by future global leaders will be a festival place to share challenges and exchange learning and culture through the rowing competition.

Dear athletes and distinguished guests!

Daegu is a joy-filled cultural city all year round with events including the Daegu International Musical Festival, Opera Festival, Colorful Festival and Chimac Festival(Chicken and Beer). Please Enjoy Daegu to the fullest to create your stay extra special.
