안녕하십니까? 자유한국당 대구 달성군 국회의원 추경호입니다.

글로벌 물산업의 허브도시 대구 달성군을 찾아주신 세계적 명문대학 조정 선수단 및 내빈 여러분을 진심으로 환영합니다. 올해로 4회차를 맞이한 DGIST 세계명문대학 조정축제가 달성군, 나아가 대한민국의 위상을 세계적으로 알리는 축제로 자리 잡아가고 있음이 느껴집니다.

미국 MIT, 영국 캠브리지, 호주 시드니대학교, 스위스 취리히공대, 중국 홍콩과기대학교 등 각국을 대표하는 과학기술인재들의 요람과 어깨를 나란하게 된 우리 DGIST의 위상 변화에 참으로 기쁩니다.

전신 스포츠이자 무엇보다 팀워크가 중요한 조정경기가 대중적인 인기를 갖게 된 가장 큰 이유는 여러분께서도 잘 아시는 것처럼 1829년 템스강에서 펼쳐진 케임브리지와 옥스퍼드, 영국을 대표하는 두 명문대학 간의 맞대결 때문일 것입니다.

DGIST 세계명문대학 조정축제도 나날이 발전해 혁신으로 세상을 바꾸는 융복합대학을 꿈꾸는 DGIST를 상징하는 축제로 자리매김하길 기원합니다.

아무쪼록 손상혁 총장님을 비롯한 DGIST 관계자 여러분이 준비한 다채로운 축제 프로그램들이 잘 마무리되기를 바랍니다. 특히 참가팀 모두 정정당당한 승부를 통해 그동안 갈고닦은 실력을 아무런 사고 없이 안전하게 마음껏 펼치시길 기원합니다.

다시 한 번 DGIST 세계명문대학 조정축제 개최를 축하드리며, 참석하신 모든 학생들이 우리 달성군에서 잊지 못할 좋은 추억을 많이 만들어 가시길 바랍니다.

I sincerely welcome the world class university rowing athletes and guests who visited Daegu Dalseong-gun, the hub city of the global water industry. I feel that DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival which congratulates its fourth promotion this year is becoming a festival to announce the status of the Dalseong-gun and Korea globally.

I am very pleased with the change in the status of our DGIST, which has been upgraded with the leaders of science and technology representing each country such as MIT in the USA, Cambridge University in the UK, University of Sydney in Australia, ETH Zürich in Switzerland, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in China.

The main reason for the popularity of rowing, which is a whole-body sport and emphasizes teamwork, is because of the confrontation between Cambridge and Oxford, the two leading universities in the River Thames in 1829.

I hope that the DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival will develop day by day and become a festival symbolizing DGIST that is dreaming of becoming an innovative university changing the world through convergence.

I hope that the various festival programs prepared by DGIST officials including President Sang-Hyuk Son will all go well. In particular, I hope all participating teams will be able to display their skills through fair play without any accidents.

Once again, I would like to congratulate DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival and hope that all of the participating students will make a lot of unforgettable memories in Dalseong-gun.
