The first known ¡®modern¡¯ rowing races, began from competition among the professional watermen that provided ferry and taxi service on the River Thames in London during the mid 17C. The watermen were a major transportation before the invention of the train and cars. The first boat race started at 1716. The first race with the current form was opened at Putney, London. Rowing became the official olympic event at the 1900 Paris Olympics and women`s races were added at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Rowing was first introduced to Korea in 1919 and the 1925 Han River race became the first official race of Korea. In 1962, the Korean Rowing Association was founded. The first Olympic race that Korean National Rowing Team participated was the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Rowing teams spread throughout Korea after the mid-1970s.

DGIST Á¶Á¤ºÎ´Â 2013³â¿¡ Ãâ¹üÇÏ¿´´Ù. ³«µ¿°­¿¡ ÀÎÁ¢ÇÑ DGIST´Â Á¶Á¤À̶ó´Â ¸íÇ° ½ºÆ÷Ã÷¸¦ ±³À°¿¡ È°¿ëÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ´Â ÃÖÀûÀÇ Á¶°ÇÀ» °®Ãß°í ÀÖ´Ù. 2014³âºÎÅÍ DGIST´Â Àü±¹ ±Ô¸ðÀÇ ´ëȸ¿¡ ÃâÀüÇÏ¿© ÃÖ»óÀ§±ÇÀÇ ½Ç·ÂÀ» º¸ÀÌ°í ÀÖ´Ù.

Boat clubs of Cambridge and Oxford were found on 1828 and 1815. The Famous race between these two schools started on 1829 at Henley-on-Thames and was developed to the Regatta race of 1839. After spread throughout the world, Rowing has become a major competing sport between prestigious universities such as Harvard and Yale universities of USA, Peking and Tsinghua universities of China and Yeonsei University and DGIST of Korea. The DGIST Boat Club was found in 2013. DGIST has perfect practice environment, the Nakdong River to develop rowing as a school sport. Since 2014 DGIST is showing top class performance in major national rowing competitions.

Rowing is a sport that is comparable to the marathon. A player who runs a regular course of two kilometers loses weight about 1.5 kilograms after a race. The birthplace of the rowing was Britain. Middle of the 17th century, boat which was more convenient than the land transport method was spread around Thames River. And professional scull tournament, the first rowing tournament in England, was recorded in 1715. In England, Eton College became the first to establish a new rowing team. Also, the first race for Oxford and Cambridge, which is renowned for its college sports rivals, broke off in 1829 amid a crowd of about 20,000 spectators. Rowing which has origin in UK has been gradually spread to the Americas via France, Russia, and Germany. International Federation of Rowing Association (FISA) was founded in 1982 and the first European Championship was held in Italy in 1893. The World Rowing Championships were founded in 1962. The tournament was officially held in the first Athens Games, but it failed due to inclement weather. Four man games were competed for formal Olympic subject in 1900 at the Olympic Games in Paris, and the woman games were first introduced in 1976 at the Olympic in Montreal. In 1919, Rowing was first introduced in Korea. The first formal race was held in the Han River in 1925 with the boats they introduce in Gyeongseong Electricity, the Railway Bureau, Ministry of Communication, and Gyeongseong empire University. The Korea Rowing Association was founded in 1962, and the first eight teams competed for the first time in Donggyeong Olympic in 1964. Since the mid 1970s, teams have been founded on a national scale, and currently 600 players, 90 teams are registered.
