Congratulatory Message

On behalf of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, I would like to congratulate all of the crews competing at the 2018 DGIST World-class University Rowing Festival. I would also like to commend the organizers, including DGIST President Dr. Son Sang-hyuk and many others, for hosting this impressive event.

I recently made my first visit to Daegu and attended the city’s annual Chimac (Chicken and Beer) Festival. I had a great time meeting the citizens of Daegu and getting my first taste of Korea’s chimac culture. During your stay, I hope you also have the chance to enjoy Korean culture, try some delicious local food, and experience the warm hospitality of the people of Daegu.

As a big sports fan, I wish all the rowers participating in this year’s event lots of success on the water. I truly hope you will have a memorable regatta experience in Daegu. Have fun, be safe, and may the best team win!
