Harvard rowing began with the Huron Club in 1844, though its oarsmen gained purpose in 1852 with the crew¡¯s first race against Yale - won by the Harvard crew. This race marked the first intercollegiate competition in the United States. The Harvard-Yale Race has remained the premier race of the Harvard season to date. Consistently one of the highest performing university teams in the U.S., the Crimson trains on the Charles River which separates the cities of Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts.
