멜버른 대학교에서 처음 조정이 시작된 해는 1859년이며 멜버른 대학교 보트 클럽(MUBC)는 호주에서 가장 오래된 조정 클럽으로 긴 역사를 자랑한다. 멜버른 대학교 보트 클럽은 대학생, 학교대항, 연수반, 엘리트선수 프로그램 등 다양한 프로그램을 제공하고 있으며 현재 400여명의 회원들이 활동하고 있으며 졸업생 동문을 포함하여는 1,000명 이상의 회원들이 있다. 호주 국가 대표 조정선수팀에는 MUBC 출신의 선수들이 상당 수를 차지하고 있으며, 그 선수들은 1912년 개최된 스톡홀름 올림픽부터 2016년 리우 올림픽까지 많은 세계적 경기에 출전해오고 있다.
Rowing began at the University of Melbourne in 1859 and the Melbourne University Boat Club is the oldest rowing club in Australia. The University offers Collegiate, Intervarsity, Club, Masters and Elite programs and currently has approximately 400 active members and over 1,000 associated alumni and friends. The University has a rich rowing history with students regularly making up a significant part of Australian national rowing teams at Junior, Youth and Elite levels and have had representatives race in Olympic Games from Stockholm (1912) to Rio de Janeiro (2016). The 2016 Melbourne University DGIST crew has been selected from rowers from Ormond College, the largest residential college at the University.
